New Releases for August 30th

Every Tuesday I will list the new games coming out and give the rating from ESRB as well a brief description of the game.

Assetto Corsa  (Xbox One, PS4)

Rating: Everyone

Mild Language

This is a racing simulation game in which players drive a variety of cars around several iconic racetracks. Players can race in a variety of game modes including Hotlap, Qualifying, and career mode. The name of one racing event is called "A Hell 4 You."

Attack on Titan  (Xbox One, PS4, PS3, Vita, PC)

Rating: Mature

Mild Language

This is an action game based on the story and characters of the series Attack on Titan. Players assume the role of a young soldier battling enormous man-eating titans that threaten humanity. As characters fly around battlefields with wired jetpacks, they use swords to cut off titans' limbs, killing them with a slash at the back of the neck. Battles can be frenetic, with large splashes of blood appearing after limbs are cut off. Finishing blows often result in larger blood-splatter effects. Throughout the game, Titans are depicted nude, with exposed buttocks, though they lack discernible genitalia.

God Eater 2: Rage Burst (PS4, Vita, PC)

Rating: Teen
Blood, Mild Language, Partial Nudity, Suggestive Themes, Use of Alcohol and Tobacco, Violence

This is an action role-playing game in which players follow a group of monster hunters tasked with protecting humanity from large-scale creatures (Aragami). Characters use sword-gun weapons to slash, stab, and shoot enemies in third-person combat. Battles are frenetic, with frequent gunfire and impact sounds; monsters emit brief clouds of red blood when struck. Cutscenes also include violent acts, including characters impaling various monsters. During the course of the game, some female monsters are depicted topless (without nipples). One scene depicts two characters flirting with each other as the camera lingers on a female character's legs and tongue. Characters are sometimes shown drinking cans of beer or glasses of alcohol; one scene depicts a male character smoking a cigar. The words “a*s,” “b*tch,” and “bastard” appear in the dialogue.

World of Warcraft: Legion (PC, Mac)

Rating: Teen
Blood and Gore, Crude Humor, Mild Language, Suggestive Themes, Use of Alcohol, Violence

This is a massively multiplayer online  role-playing game set in the imaginary land of Azeroth. As players explore open-world environments, they can interact with characters, form alliances, and complete quests to “level up” their character. Quest objectives sometimes involve using magic and/or hand-to-hand combat to kill various creatures (e.g., giant monsters, ogres, trolls, woodland animals) and at times non-adversary characters (e.g., human-like villagers). Damage is indicated by slashing sounds, gunfire, explosions, and depleted life meters; some attacks result in splashes of blood and/or creatures bursting into small red chunks. During the course of the game, players' character can consume wine, mead, and other alcoholic beverages; drinking too much results in staggering/swaying and blurred screen effects. Players can interact with scantily clad characters, listen to suggestive dialogue (e.g., "Is that a mana wyrm in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?"), or view provocative dance routines performed by elves and other player-characters. One quest requires players to search for specific creatures amid a landscape covered with piles of brown feces. The words "a*s," "bastard," and "b*tch" occasionally appear in dialogue.

Howdy,
This will be a weekly blog about video games and apps. Tuesdays will be about new releases and what parents should expect  from the games they buy their kids. I will talk about the rating each game gets and why it got that.
