Video Game New Releases February 26th 2019


Hello and Welcome to Parents Guide 2 Games. Here are the games coming out the week of February 26th 2019.


Dirt Rally 2.0 


(PS4, Xbox One, PC)

Rating: Everyone

This is a racing simulation game in which players select and race rally cars around real-world locations and circuits. Players can compete in a variety of game modes that include Career, Leagues, and Custom Events.


The Lego Movie 2 


(PS4, Switch, Xbox One, PC)

Rating: Everyone 10 and up

Content Descriptors: Cartoon Violence, Comic Mischief

This is an action-puzzle game in which players follow the characters and events from the LEGO Movie 2. Players traverse whimsical environments and use punches, kicks, and weapons to defeat villainous cowboys, robots, and boss characters. Combat is accompanied by cries of pain, slow-motion effects, and impact sounds. Although overtly "cartoony," a handful of sequences allow players to use guns and machine-gun turrets to shoot enemies and objects.


Dead or Alive 6 


(PS4, Xbox One, PC)

Rating: Mature

Content Descriptors: Blood, Language, Sexual Themes, Violence

This is a fighting game in which players engage in one-on-one matches with martial artists from around the world. Players mostly use punches and kicks to drain opponents' life meters in fast-paced matches. Fighters can perform specialized attacks (e.g., magic blasts, exaggerated impact strikes), which are highlighted by slow-motion effects, close-up camera angles, and blood-splatter effects. Cutscenes depict additional acts of violence: robotic characters cut in half with a sword; helicopter machine guns shooting characters on the ground. A handful of costumes depict characters with narrow strips of cloth that barely cover their buttocks and/or pelvic areas. Some female fighters' breasts jiggle while standing or fighting. In some sequences, players have the ability to zoom in on characters' cleavage, posterior, or underwear, and take pictures. Swear words appear in the dialogue.


Trials Rising 



(PS4, Xbox One, Switch, PC)

Rating: Teen
Content Descriptors: Mild Suggestive Themes, Mild Violence
This is a stunt-racing game in which players ride motorcycles through obstacle courses around a variety of settings. Players jump over gaps, avoid hazards, and try to avoid crashing or “faulting.” Some levels contain explosions that can forcefully knock the rider to the ground or into objects. Other levels contain hazards or end sequences in which the rider can be flung into chasms, electrocuted, run over by a train, or crushed by cars or machinery. Riders are frequently heard screaming during these sequences. In one stage, players launch the rider as far as possible through the use of explosives; the explosives violently launch the Rider, who briefly catches fire and screams.

The Liar Princess and the Blind Prince 


(PS4, Switch)

Rating: Everyone 10 and up

This is an adventure platformer in which players assume the role of a wolf that helps a blind prince. Players guide the prince through side-scrolling platform environments, protecting him from wild animals and human soldiers. Players can swipe their claws at various enemies, causing large black splashes to appear; enemies generally cry out and disappear amid puffs of smoke when defeated. Some still-image sequences depict black blood-splatter effects as a characters are slashed across the face.


Crackdown 3 


(Xbox One, PC)

Rating: Mature

Content Descriptors: Blood, Drug Reference, Sexual Themes, Strong Language, Violence

This is a third-person shooter in which players assume the role of a member of an international task force battling terrorists in the year 2045. Players explore open-world urban environments and use pistols, machine guns, blasters, and explosives to kill enemy characters. Combat is highlighted by frequent blood-splatter effects, realistic gunfire, and explosions. Cutscenes occasionally depict characters screaming while being vaporized/incinerated. The game contains some sexual material: signs for adult entertainment; references in the dialogue. Dialogue also references cocaine and swear words.


Metro Exodus

Far Cry: New Dawn

This is an action/adventure first-person shooter in which players assume the role of a captain of a security detail sent to rescue settlers. Set in a post-nuclear Montana, the game allows players to explore open-world environments, engage in combat missions, rescue hostages, and liberate outposts from enemy bandits/marauders. Players use machine guns, rifles, flamethrowers, and explosives to kill enemies in frenetic combat; combat is highlighted by realistic gunfire, large explosions, and blood-splatter effects. Stealth attacks are also used to take out unsuspecting enemies discreetly. Cutscenes depict additional acts of intense violence: a man executed with a shotgun blast; a man shot point-blank in the chest. The game contains brief sexual references in the dialogue. During the course of the game, players' character can consume alcohol, resulting in a screen-blurring effect and the character passing out. Swear words are heard in dialogue.


Jump Force

This is a fighting game in which players compete in 3-on-3 matches with characters featured in the Shonen Jump Magazine series. Players use punches, kicks, and special attacks to drain opponents' life meters in arena-based combat. A handful of characters use swords, machine guns, and bazookas to inflict damage against opponents. Battles are accompanied by colorful light effects, cries of pain, and large explosions. Small drips of blood can appear on characters' bodies and faces as they are damaged in combat. Some characters wear outfits that expose large amounts of cleavage; portions of female characters' clothing may rip off during matches. Dialogue also references suggestive material.

The Occupation 


(PS4, Xbox One, PC)

Rating: Teen

Content Descriptors: Alcohol Reference, Use of Tobacco, Violent References

This is an adventure game in which players assume the role of a journalist investigating the events surrounding a dangerous explosion. From a first-person perspective, players search for clues and interview characters to learn about the incident. A handful of scenes reference deceased characters; during one sequence, a woman discusses her husband, wondering “did he suffer?” Characters are sometimes shown smoking cigarettes; players' character can pick up cigarettes and smoke them from a first-person perspective. The dialogue makes occasional references to wine, and one prolonged scene depicts a character pouring glasses of bourbon to make a toast.


God Eater 3 


(PS4, PC)

Rating: Teen

Content Descriptors: Blood, Mild Language, Suggestive Themes, Violence

This is an action role-playing game in which players follow a group of monster hunters tasked with protecting humanity from large-scale creatures. From a third-person perspective, players use sword-gun weapons to slash, stab, and shoot enemies in frenetic combat. Battles are highlighted by gunfire and impact sounds; creatures emit splashes and clouds of blood when struck. Cutscenes depict further instances of violence, including a character seen killing several soldiers.
