Video Games New Releases Feb 28th 2017

Hello and Welcome to Parents guide to games. The games on this list are coming out the week of February 28th 2017. We will be covering all the games coming out for the Nintendo Switch later this week.
Horizon Zero Dawn
(PS4)
Rating: Teen

This is an action role-playing game in which players assume the role of a hunter surviving through a post-apocalyptic world. Players guide Aloy as she learns to hunt robotic creatures and animals in the wild. Aloy uses arrows, spears, and explosive traps to injure and kill machines, boar, and occasional human enemies. Animals and humans emit small puffs of red blood when struck; one sequence depicts an abandoned camp with large blood stains on rocks and trees. The game contains a brief reference to sexual material. During the course of the game, characters sometimes reference controlled substances. Swear words appear in dialogue.




Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns
(3DS)
Rating: Everyone 10 and up
Content Descriptors: Alcohol Reference, Mild Suggestive Themes, Violent References
This is a farming simulation/role-playing game in which players can grow crops, care for animals, and interact with other farmers and friends. While the majority of game involves task completion, some text contains a storyline referencing violence. Some scenes contain suggestive dialogue. The game also allows players to make wine from grapes and other fruit.




Torment: Tides of Numenera
(PS4, Xbox One, PC)
Rating: Mature
Content Descriptors: Blood, Language, Sexual Themes, Violence
This is a role-playing game in which players assume the role of the Last Castoff, a mind that cheats death by hopping between bodies over time. As players explore environments and interact with characters, they engage in turn-based combat using swords, clubs, crossbows, and magic to defeat fantasy creatures and human enemies. Players select their attack moves and intensity from a menu as characters battle during brief cutscenes; some attacks result in splashes of blood. Cutscenes depict larger amounts of blood: a man exploding into blood after touching a machine; a man's head exploding into blood splatter; a cyst-like chamber bursting and expelling blood. Descriptive text occasionally references sexual material. The words “sh*t” and “a*shole” appear in the dialogue.

Hello and Welcome to Parents guide to games. The games on this list are coming out the week of February 21h 2017.
Berserk and the Band of the Hawk

(PS4, PC, Vita)

Rating: Mature

Content Descriptors: Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Language, Partial Nudity, Sexual Content

This is an action game in which players assume the roles of mercenary characters battling large armies in frenetic melee-style combat. From a third-person perspective, players use swords and magic attacks to kill dozens of enemy soldiers, demons, mutant animals, and trolls. Enemies are sent flying across the battlefield with each strike, and combat is highlighted by cries of pain and large blood-splatter effects. Some attack moves result in enemies bursting into limbs and body parts. Cutscenes sometimes depict characters getting stabbed in the eye, or sliced in the abdomen. The game includes some suggestive/sexual material: characters with exposed breasts and/or buttocks(though nipples and genitalia are obscured); one scene depicts a man fondling a woman's breast through her nightgown, as she moans loudly. The word “sh*t” appears in the dialogue.

This is a real-time strategy game in which players build and command military units in order to defeat opponents and complete combat objectives. From a ¾-overhead perspective, players collect and manage resources to mobilize/upgrade military units (e.g., infantry, armored vehicles). Combat is highlighted by realistic gunfire, explosions, and cries of pain. One cutscene briefly depicts blood spilling out of a stab wound; another scene shows bloodied injuries on a soldier's face. A handful of cutscenes depict soldiers shooting or stabbing enemy aliens. The words “b*tch” and “a*s” appear in the dialogue.




Night in the Woods

NIGHT IN THE WOODS is an adventure game focused on exploration, story, and character, featuring dozens of characters to meet and lots to do across a lush, vibrant world. 




Psychonauts in the Rhombus of Ruin

Rating: Everyone 10 and up

Once again players will assume the role of Raz, an intrepid young psychic and now fully fledged member of the Psychonauts — an elite group of international psychic secret agents!
The story picks up exactly where it left off at the end of Psychonauts with Raz, Lili, Sasha, Milla, and Coach Oleander flying off to rescue Truman Zannotto, the Grand Head of the Psychonauts. Their mission takes them straight into the heart of the Rhombus of Ruin, a mysterious part of the ocean as deadly as two Bermuda Triangles back to back!
When the rescue party itself is kidnapped and held prisoner in the Rhombus, Raz is immobilized and must use only his psychic powers to reunite his friends, reveal the identity of the kidnapper, and free Truman before the madness of the Rhombus consumes all their minds.





Lego Worlds


(Xbox One, PS4, PC)

Content Descriptors: Cartoon Violence

This is an adventure game in which players explore various landscapes and use Lego bricks to create buildings, mountains, islands, and objects. Players complete quests that involve collecting items, building structures, completing tasks, and defeating enemies. Characters use swords, pistols, and turrets to shoot at enemies or engage in melee-style combat. Characters break into Lego pieces when their health meters are depleted. Some of the violence occurs from a first-person perspective, and players have the ability to attack non-adversary figures (e.g., creatures, animals, Lego people), though this behavior is not encouraged/rewarded.

Hello and Welcome to Parents Guide 2 Games. The games on this list are coming out the week of February 14th 2017.
For Honor
(PS4, Xbox One, PC)
Rating: Mature
Content Descriptors: Blood and Gore, Intense Violence
This is an action game in which players control one of three factions (Samurai, Vikings, Knights) in a protracted battle for dominance. As players complete mission objectives, they use swords, axes, and spears to kill enemy warriors in melee-style combat. Blood-splatter effects occur frequently as enemies are killed; some areas depict large bloodstains and impaled heads on spikes. Players can also perform finishing attacks (e.g., decapitation, impalements) that are sometimes highlighted by close-up camera angles. Cutscenes depict additional acts of violence: bound warriors decapitated by swords; characters executed with weapon strikes to the head.




Sniper Elite 4
(PS4, Xbox One, PC)
Rating: Mature
Content Descriptors: Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Language
This is a third-person shooter in which players assume the role of a US Army sniper. From first- and third-person perspectives, players use machine guns, scoped rifles, trip mines, and grenades to kill enemy soldiers and complete mission objectives. Players employ stealth tactics to dispatch enemies from various ranges (e.g., crouching behind rubble to take a shot; sneaking up and stabbing enemies). Firefights are highlighted by screams of pain, realistic gunfire, explosions, and large splashes of blood. Performing accurate shots sometimes triggers a “kill cam,” which follows the bullet in slow motion to its intended target. These sequences depict X-ray views of enemies' bones, ligaments, and organs shattering or bursting apart. The word “sh*t” can be heard in the dialogue.




Deformers

Rating: Everyone 10 and up
Content Descriptors: Animated Blood, Cartoon Violence
This is an action game in which players control round animals, alien blobs, and food items in fast-paced combat events. Characters roll around whimsical environments collecting power-ups and smashing into each other in attempts to deplete opponents' health. Power-ups include the ability to shoot projectiles at opponents; shooting is accompanied by realistic gunfire. Characters burst into chunks and splatters of colored liquid when defeated. Action is frenetic, with characters jumping/flying around and repeatedly colliding with opponents.
