Hello
and Welcome to Parents Guide 2 Games. Here are the games coming out
the week of April 23rd 2019.
Dragon's
Dogma: Dark Arisen
(Switch)
Rating:
Mature
This
is an action-adventure game in which players assume the role of
Glynn, a militiaman on a quest to kill an evil dragon. As players
traverse through fantastical “open-world” environments, they
complete missions and quests that impact the storyline and eventual
fate of their character. Players use swords, bows and arrows, and
magic attacks to kill various enemies in melee-style combat. The
frequent combat is accompanied by slashing sounds, cries of pain, and
large splashes of blood; attacks sometimes result in dismembered
limbs and/or scattered body parts. Some sequences allow players to
injure/kill non-adversaries, including unarmed villagers; such acts
are penalized by lower “charisma” levels for players' character.
Other acts of violence appear in cutscenes: a man strangling a woman
in her bedchamber; a character impaling himself. The dialogue
sometimes includes innuendo and suggestive material. During the
course of the game, players may also encounter female harpies whose
breasts are fully exposed at certain camera angles.
Mortal
Kombat 11
(PS4,
Xbox One, Switch, PC)
Rating:
Mature
This
is a fighting game in which players engage in one-on-one battles
against characters from the Mortal Kombat universe. Players punch,
kick, and use special attacks to drain opponents' life meters.
Battles are accompanied by screams of pain, realistic gunfire, and
exaggerated impact sounds; large blood-splatter effects occur during
fights, staining characters' bodies and the ground. After an opponent
is defeated at the end of a match, players perform finishing moves
called "Fatalities" that can result in characters'
impalement, dismemberment, or decapitation. Many of these finishing
moves depict over-the-top instances of violence: a character ripped
in half; a character's face sliced off with a sword; a character
mauled in half, leaving entrails exposed. Swear words can be heard in
the dialogue.
Days
Gone
(PS4)
Rating:
Mature
Content
Descriptors: Blood and Gore, Drug Reference, Intense Violence,
Sexual Themes, Strong Language
This
is an action game in which players assume the role of Deacon St.
John, a biker trying to survive in a post-apocalyptic world. Players
complete various missions, help survivors find homes and food, search
for loved ones, and battle humans, animals, and hordes of Freakers in
frenetic combat. Players use firearms and melee weapons to kill
several enemies; large blood-splatter effects occur when characters
are attacked. Cutscenes also depict intense acts of violence:
characters tortured with blowtorches; a mutant's head exploding from
a gunshot; characters getting their throats slit; a man getting his
ear cut off; a bag full of severed ears. The game contains some
suggestive/sexual material: a woman dragged into an empty cabin by
marauders; dialogue such as “Wow, she is
a looker. I'd hit that” and “…only if you promise to ride me as
much as you ride your bike.” The dialogue briefly references drugs.
Swear words appear in dialogue.
