New Releases for Video Games Oct. 4 2016

Here is the list of the newest video games releases for this week.
Aragami
(PS4, PC)

This is an action game in which players assume the role of Aragami, a vengeful shadow-spirit ninja. Players mostly use stealth techniques to infiltrate compounds and kill enemies. Players are able to sneak up on enemies and stab or slash them with their sword; some attacks include slitting characters' throats. Large blood-splatter-effects occur during these stealth kills. Cutscenes sometimes depict characters getting shot with arrows or impaled through the chest by swords.

Atari Flashback Classics Vol. 1 and Vol. 2

This is a collection of classic Atari games from the arcade and the Atari 2600 console. Games include Centipede, Combat, Realsports Boxing, Tempest, Yar's Revenge, Asteroid, Breakout, Missile Command, Outlaw, and Space War. In Realsports Boxing, players control boxers that punch each other inside a ring; players win by knocking out their opponent. A few games allow players to wager in-game credits on games of blackjack and slots. This is a music and rhythm simulation game in which players learn how to perform songs on an electric guitar. Players simulate strumming guitar strings, score points based on the accuracy of notes hit, and participate in mini-games to test/improve skills. Some mini-games involve brief instances of violence: a cowboy shooting bandits with a pop gun; spaceships shooting lasers at each other; players using a guitar weapon to shoot light blasts at zombies from a first-person perspective. Some song lyrics contain references to suggestive behavior (e.g., “down on a muff . . . I met a cheerleader/Was a real young bleeder”; “But there's no mistaking who I'm taking to my bed with me tonight”), and the word “a*s” appears in one song

Warhammer:  The End Times – Vermintide

This is a first-person shooter in which players assume the role of one of five heroes working to save a city from rat-like creatures (Skaven). Players use swords, axes, hammers, and firearms to kill attacking enemies in frenetic combat. Some levels prompt players to find and kill individuals or groups of enemies. Blood-splatter effects occur during battles, and some weapons allow players to decapitate enemies. Blood also remains on weapons and floors for long periods of time; one scene depicts two corpses with visible entrails.


Mafia III

This is an open-world action game in which players assume the role of a Vietnam veteran (Lincoln Clay) seeking revenge against an organized crime syndicate. As players explore 1968-era New Orleans, they complete missions that often involve taking over criminal rackets and assassinating targets. From a third-person perspective, players use pistols, machine guns, shotguns, explosives, and knives to kill enemy rivals and thugs; players can directly kill civilians and police though this may negatively affect their progress. Combat is highlighted by realistic gunfire and large blood-splatter effects. Players can also use stealth attacks to strangle and/or stab enemies from behind. In some sequences, players engage in intense hand-to-hand combat, performing various takedowns and executions: stomping enemies' heads; snapping their necks; shooting enemies in the mouth or head at close range. One sequence depicts characters cutting the limbs off corpses inside a warehouse. The game contains depictions of nudity and sexual material: topless women dancing and caressing each other during a pornography shoot; a sex-party setting in which a woman performs oral sex on a man (no genitalia depicted); a male couple having sex in a bathhouse (no genitalia or penetration depicted); unlockable Playboy magazine centerfolds/covers depicting exposed buttocks and breasts. The game also includes references to drugs and drug use: a man snorting lines of drugs; missions that involve spiking liquids with LSD; depictions of a heroin-processing operation. The words “f**k,” "c*nt," “sh*t,” and “c*cksucker” are heard. Players will also frequently experience racial epithets (e.g., "n**ger," "g*ok") and dialogue.

Paper Mario Color Splash
(Wii U)

Content Descriptors: Mild Cartoon Violence
This is an action role-playing game in which players help Mario and his friends save an island being stripped of its color by a band of invaders. Players run and jump through colorful environments, interact with characters, and engage in turn-based battles against fantasy creatures in paper form. Players select battle cards to stomp on enemies, throw fireballs, and whack them with mallets; enemies generally disappear amid stars and splashes of colorful paint.


WRC 6 (World Rally Championship)
(Xbox One, PS4, PC)
Rating: Everyone

This is a racing simulation game in which players select and drive rally cars around real-world international tracks. As players try to become World Rally Champion, they can race cars in several different modes to further their careers
